Resumen

Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) Kunth (nanche) es un arbusto perenne, nativo de Mesoamérica que ha sido ampliamente usado en etnomedicina, principalmente para tratar enfermedades y problemas relacionados con los sistemas respiratorio y gastrointestinal. Recientemente, se ha retomado el estudio de sus posibles actividades biológicas y sus propiedades antioxidantes, hipoglucémicas y antitumorales están siendo estudiadas. El nanche representa un recurso natural importante como fuente de metabolitos con potencial biotecnológico y comercial.
