Byrsonima crassifolia (nance) is a perennial shrub, native to Mesoamerica, it has been widely used in ethnomedicine, mainly to treat diseases and problems related to the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems. Recently, the study of its possible biological activities has been resumed and studies related to antioxidant, hypoglycemic and antitumor properties are being explored. Nanche represents an important natural resource as a source of metabolites with biotechnological and commercial potential.
