The current trend toward organic agriculture, allows the use of plant extracts (PEs) and essential oils (EOs) than contain several phytochemical compounds (PCs) which can use to management of plant diseases. Nevertheless, the PCs present in these formulations can be degraded, decreased effectiveness when they apply to field conditions. Due to this problem the use of nanotechnology, the controlled-release nano encapsulates (NEs) and microencapsulates (MEs) arise as an alternative to the application of botanical products. The use of NES and MEs with active ingredients is every day in many fields; in the case of agriculture, they use in plaguicides. However, the controlled-release NEs and MEs with PCs in disease control of plants have not been explored enough. This review discusses the use of PCs in plant disease management and the benefits presented in formulation with NEs and MEs of PCs; furthermore, are discuss some methods to produce NEs and MEs.
