Abstract

In Guerrero state, México, the 'Ataulfo' mango presents the problem of high production of parthenocarpic fruits. The objective was to evaluate the effect of climatic factors during pre- and post-anthesis on the production of parthenocarpic mango fruits. The research was carried out in a commercial orchard located in Guerrero state, where 10 trees were selected, marking 100 and 150 inflorescences in 2017 and 2018, respectively. The variables evaluated were the development of the inflorescence, types of fruits retained (parthenocarpic fruits=FP and fruits with seeds=FCS) and climate factors at the level of the plant canopy. In the warmest cycle (34.7 °C) in 2017, no statistical significance was found between fruit production (FP and FCS) and climate factors, while in the coolest cycle (33.7 °C) in 2018 a significant negative correlation was detected between low temperatures (16.2 - 17.9 °C) and the production of seedless fruits. FP production, under Guerrero conditions, is correlated with minimum temperatures during full bloom and abortive ovules were observed.
